Thought Process and Rationale for Test Items

When dealing with preschool age children it is very hard to have specific test items as seen on traditional testing. Children in this age group require hands on testing and verbal responses in order to assess their understanding of the objectives. I have spent some time in this area of education which requires a lot of thinking outside the box.

I chose to have children show their understanding through various means to include art (cutting and gluing), manipulative, and hands on techniques. I feel that a preschool age child will be able to express their understanding through these means because they will see it is a fun project rather than a boring test. Giving a child this age an actual test would be daunting and most likely not be successful.
